Technical information about this website's accessibility

Winterslow Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant (meeting most requirements of the WCAG 2.2 AAA standard) with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AAA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non accessible content

The content listed below may be non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non compliance with the accessibility regulations

Documents provided in non-html code, for example .doc or pdf documents supplied by the website owner or its representatives, may not be accessible. These document are not necessarily authored by the website designer and therefore could be non-compliant.

The potential WCAG 2.2 AAA success criteria the problems could fail on are:

•  1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) Level AA
•  1.4.4 Resize text Level AA
•  1.4.10 Reflow Level AA(Added in 2.1)
•  1.4.11 Non-text Contrast Level AA (Added in 2.1)
•  1.4.12 Text Spacing Level AA(Added in 2.1)
•  2.4.6 Headings and Labels Level AA
•  3.1.2 Language of Parts Level AA

Potential problems when identified, would be brought to the attention of the web owner for rectification as intervention on behalf of the website would not be possible under disproportionate burden or where the problem is outside the scope of the accessibility regulations.

Where appropriate, we plan to add text alternatives for all images as soon as is practical. When we publish new content we will make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.

Disproportionate burden

In order to comply with the spirit of the regulations, Ringstones Media run basic tests against the WCAG 2.2 recommendations. We are guided by W3C's 'How to Meet WCAG (Quick Reference)'as detailed here.

Ringstones Media is confident that this website meets accessibility standards. However, working in association with the web owner, it was decided that due to limited resources, the tests should be run under the government 'disproportionate burden' rules.

Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Many of our older PDFs and Word documents do not meet accessibility standards - for example, they may not be structured so they are accessible to a screen reader. This may not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.1.2 .

Some of our PDFs and Word documents may be employed to provide our services. For example, we may have PDFs with information on how users can access our services, or forms published as Word documents.
